Perhaps part of this shift is down to age, at least I've wondered about this, too, because we've spent decades being busybusybusy and raising a bunch of kids and working and - whatevering - and it's exhausting. As we get older, we naturally slow down. energy levels aren't quite what they were when we were younger.

It's also a lovely chance - an opportunity - perhaps part of the program, so to speak, that we become more inclined to reflect, going inward and contemplating where we've ended up and what it's all meant as we face the last chapter.

And I'm quite sure you're right about the self-awareness and authenticity aspect, too. If we don't know ourselves and what we want - or don't - by this point, I think we've missed something! :)
