An interesting and thought-provoking piece - as usual with you! Although I do know people who come from families with both parents and an outwardly "stable" environment but they're as messed up as can be. Conversely, I know some who have come from dreadful beginnings and haven't dragged those crazy, dysfunctional patterns into their adult lives.

You're spot on about how we have to turn away from our own families' ways and create something new.
