An interesting post! I’m not sure it’s as simple as the question you pose. We can keep ourselves small if we rely on the opinions of others, just as we can become great for the same reason.
Ultimately, I think it comes down to what we believe about ourselves. Perhaps we need to learn what that is through hearing the range of opinions from others and comparing those thoughts with our actual thoughts, behaviours, and results.
Many factors come into play. But it’s have to say, I don’t think I’m what others think I am BECAUSE they think it. I am what I think I am because I know myself better than anyone else. They might know certain things about me and in those thoughts they’d be correct.
But they might also think things that are not true. So I cannot say that “I am what I think others think I am.”
