And it doesn't help that people are now giving ALL the kids a medal just for having shown up! Nobody gets to WIN anymore. Nobody gets to strive for something and feel a sense of accomplishment. We're supposed to kiss their little backsides for showing up to work or school or whatever. And then people like you get stuck dealing with their inability to pull their own weight or make them be accountable.
