Awww, Annie!!! Your beautiful message has brought tears to my eyes!! I'm so pleased that in sharing your feelings, you're receiving that outpouring of empathy that is needed to help you heal the shame!
Thank you for sharing that. I do understand what you said about needing to heal your own before you can help your son with his. π
I'm glad you received my words as they were intended. I realise that sometimes when I offer my thoughts, I might inadvertently step on toes. Sometimes, people aren't ready or willing to hear what someone else might think and I respect that. It's also hard for me to walk away from someone who has shared something vulnerable and painful, when I feel like I have something to offer that might help.
You've had plenty of your own challenges and have been doing a great job of your own healing journey. I'm so pleased for both you and your son that he feels safe in coming to you. Thinking of both of you - and his husband, who must be hurting a lot, too - and praying that all goes well for Ed's treatment.
I appreciate you sharing this story. It'll help so many readers who will relate to various aspects of it.
Sending you lots of love and my very best hugs πππ
