Awww, Klara, thank you so much for reading this! I appreciate your kind comment. To a large extent, forgiveness is for ourselves. It's painful to hang onto what hurts. But also, I had to realise that, as you highlighted here, my mother did the best she could in her circumstances.

I've sure messed up a lot in my life, and I would hope that I'd be on the receiving end of the kind of others. Like they say, you can only keep what you give away. So if I want people to be kind to me when I've made mistakes, I have to be able to give that to others, too.

I hope your children can forgive you, too. You deserve it, Klara. No doubt they've made plenty of their own mistakes in life; they're human. And they have their own paths to walk and lessons to learn.

Yeah - divorce is a dirty word, and the more of them you say you have, the dirtier it becomes. It's so unfair.
