I can sure relate to a lot of what you wrote here. I was adopted by a woman who never liked me from the moment I entered their home. She was quite abusive in various ways and it took many years before I could understand that she was acting on her own wounds and insecurities.

She never apologised or saw that she did anything wrong, but eventually I made my peace with her for who she was and we found our way to a reasonable relationship.
