Gosh, Lisa, what a shock for you! I love how you turned that news into a healthy, positive outlook with a plan of attack. You're so right about a positive attitude being extremely important.
For what it's worth ... when I was a practicing homeopath, I saw patients who had got the osteoporosis "permanent" diagnosis, and within 6 months of my treatments, the condition had reversed and the bone scans showed improved density (and my patients had not taken the meds that were prescribed by the doctors).
Homeopathy is powerful when the correct remedy is chosen and it works by stimulating the body's natural abilities to heal itself.
I'm no longer practicing, but if you're interested in exploring this option, I'd be happy to offer the name of my brilliant homeopath who works remotely, or info on what to look for in finding a good classical homeopath (NOT a naturopath! They get about six minutes of homeopathy training and call themselves homeopaths but they practice in a very different way that does not produce the same results).
