Great article on a delicate topic. A lot of men are abused in various ways but don't dare speak up. Abuse is tricky; it takes two to make it happen and by that I don't mean it's the "victim's" fault, I just mean that there have to be certain emotional issues at play in order for them to allow the abuse and give up their control/power. I know, because I endured a lot of abuse from childhood and well into my adult life. It took a lot of counselling to understand that the toxic beliefs I had as a child made me vulnerable to people who would continue to validate what I had come to believe about myself and the world.

Until someone points out that the abuse you're receiving isn't right and that you don't deserve it, you will continue to allow it because it's familiar and normal.

Thank heaven we are amazing healing machines. We don't have to live like that forever.
