Haha! I love that you can blame it on the cat (at least sometimes).
I don’t have any tips for you because I’m naturally a tidy person. I tidy as I go. Make my bed and tidy up my room as soon as I get up. Wash dishes as I use them through the day. Leave my “playroom” (desk, piano, art space, altar etc.) tidy after being in there.
Sometimes if I’ve been living on the couch a lot for a couple of days paying more attention to my laptop or Netflix than the stuff I’ve accumulated, I need a 1-minute tidy in that area.
Cleaning is easier that way too. Don’t have to clean up a bunch of stuff before I can start.
Not a lot to do anyway. Run the vacuum through, quick floor wash in kitchen and bathrooms. Dusting. (I don’t have many ornaments or things that take extra time so just surfaces mainly). Bathrooms cleaned. 1-2 hrs max for all of it, depending how thorough I want to be.
Easier to break it up. Do one of those in a day, 10-20 mins and that’s it.
I can’t stand clutter and mess. I’m too easily affected by the energy in my environment. Tidying as I go means it always feels peaceful and orderly.
