And I can see giving street people phones to help them find work or whatever other resources might help them get from where they are, to where they'd like to be.

I love something the Co-op does here - they have pre-packaged bags of non-perishables for $10 near the checkouts so you can get one/some and drop them in the bin on the way out the door.

It's not fancy food - pasta, sauce, tinned veg etc. but at least it's something. And it makes it easy for people who think about it and mean to do it and then forget when they're in the shop, and on the way out - Oh yeah!! I was gonna do THAT!
