I can relate to that. My parents interfered with my young daughter who was massively manipulative, sneaky, and loved playing us off against each other. They put me down in front of her all the time (sadly, I had to live with them for a few years).

I was already having enough trouble with her, having to go to therapy and behavioural treatment programs and child psychologists with her etc. and nothing worked. They just made it so much worse; she had zero respect for me by the time I left their home and her life continued to spin out of control.

It was tumultuous between us for a few decades. I had to cut her out of my life eventually. I wonder sometimes if it could have been different if she hadn't been taught to think so poorly of me and if they hadn't undermined all the things I was doing that the professionals told me to me to do.

Or perhaps this was supposed to be our journey...
