I left some thoughts on tidying/polishing the old ones already - there's a case to be made for that and also for starting fresh. It sounds to me like you'd really prefer to just scrap the old ones and start over. If that's what your intuition tells you, go for it.

Often trying to write something a second time doesn't work as well as the first time, but you have some valid reasons for rewrites and it sounds like you'd definitely improve on the first ones.
