I love this for so many reasons - thank you for sharing it!! I sure hear you on the sensible thing and comfort vs. looks. Comfort all the way now.

However ... I was wearing sensible boots when I slipped on the ice. And even "skid resistant boots" - which I bought recently - were still a bit slippery when I gave them a li'l test drive last week.

Good boots don't keep you safe. For that, you've gotta get some version of spikey things for boots, but those come with various issues, too, depending on which ones you get.

Also, trekking poles with specific 'made for ice' bits are helpful.
