I loved King's earlier works, didn't read loads of them but did read about five or so. Then I read one of his in about the late '90s - checking his list, I think it was Bag of Bones. I see it won an award or something but to be honest, I was so so so bored with it, I had to stop reading.

What I loved so much about his earlier works was his incredible ability to build and maintain suspense. But when he became known for it, he went a little crazy with it and his stories got longer and longer with so much "suspense" that eventually I started thinking, "Oh for Pete's sake, can something actually HAPPEN??" I started scanning the pages out of sheer boredom and wanting to just get through all the blah blah blah "build up" as it was too long, and ultimately was not suspenseful anymore.

I never read another of his after that one, but I do still have loads of respect for his talent and how prolific he is.

I don't have a favourite author, and I wouldn't necessarily read everything by someone even if I had one. If I pick up a book and it doesn't look like the story will interest me, I'm not going to waste my precious time forcing myself to read it just because I said I would.

But although it's not for me, I do think it's very cool that you're going to set out on this journey! I'll look forward to seeing a post from you somewhere down the road after you've completed this adventure. Have fun!!
