Funerals and deaths don't magically make family awkwardness disappear; they usually make it worse. So it's always good when anything good can come from these difficult events.

Hope you can let go of your guilt. You were only half of the equation in each of those relationships in which there was no reconnection that day. They could just as easily as approached you, as you could have done. Please don't beat yourself up. Not everyone is meant to be part of your life, even if you're technically related to them.
