It's a terrible situation ... been there more than once myself. And yes, we always have a choice - although it doesn't feel that way when you're trapped in it, fearing repercussions if you leave, not having the finances or education to get a good job and support yourself and kids ... "leaving" is so much easier said than done.

The first step is in knowing it's time leave, but it's so important for people to know there are places that can help with all of these issues. It's definitely not easy but it can be done.
