Jeanne, I can relate to a lot of what you've shared here. I've felt like this, too, at many points in my life.

And although it can feel safer to stay at a distance, it also means missing out on so much of the good stuff. It doesn't even necessarily require a lot of connection. it just requires noticing, changing attitudes, focusing on blessings, feeling gratitude - and yes, maybe a little connection here and there, even easy exchanges with a cashier, or the woman who hands you the ice cream after you've paid for it.

Being a wallflower doesn't have to also mean grief and sadness. it can mean joy and gratitude, and a lot of smiles.
