Oh, my word ... Grace, what an incredible story! I'm quite sure that your grandmother would have had an easier time of it if she were born in our times. With so many more treatment options, alternative therapies, support groups, awareness of mental and emotional struggles, PTSD etc. - she'd likely have fared much better. I like to think so anyway.
