Oh, what fun!!! I loved living in the south of England (from Canada but lived there 15 years or so and wish I could have stayed forever. The Universe had other plans). Anyway - it was great fun to zip across to France for dinner now and then (pre-bloody-Brexit), and stop in at the "booze" shops by the tunnel where you could get fabulous French wine for £1 a bottle - Okay, not €250/bottle wine, but it was still really good for inexpensive wines. You'd pay about $20-$25 in Canada for the "cheap stuff" in France!
