Ohhh, Suzie!! I'm sooo sorry you witnessed this. Bad enough to have seen it at all - it would be so deeply upsetting! But to later find out that he didn't survive - that's got to be hard to deal with.

You're so right about how fragile life is. I've had plenty of up-close experience with that since I was a kid so I've never had a problem accepting my mortality - or understanding how quickly others can be gone from our lives, too.
