OMG, Sara, I'm sitting here in a puddle of tears. I'm so, so sorry for the awful pain you've endured with the loss of your dad - and in such a tragic way.

Thank you for sharing all of this with me. I would like to offer a perspective on that terrible night you described, and hope it's okay with you. I don't know if you're aware that when I was a kid, I began experiencing communicating from the spirit world, beginning with one particularly awful one. I dreamed that my two best friends were dead and when I woke up, I couldn't shake the feeling. Got ready for school and went to the kitchen, my parents were sitting at the table and I told them about my dream right away.

They looked at each other in a peculiar way. My dad left the room for a minute and came back with the morning paper, showing me an article. The girls were dead - car and train collision during a blizzard. My parents were at the table, waiting for me to come to breakfast so they could tell me.

Anyway ... my ability to connect with spirits evolved over the years. I've written about it here so won't go into more detail at the moment, but wanted to say enough that hopefully, what I'm going to say will be meaningful for you.

Given what you said about that night in the kitchen, and your dad being the only thing on your mind, and not knowing how you got back to your room etc., I would suggest that your dad was there with you, giving you those thoughts about what his death had done to you and your mom. He was there to protect you and keep you safe, and he made sure you got back to your bed without hurting yourself.

Our loved ones always stay close when they're on the other side. They can hear us, they're aware of what we're doing. They're able to give us messages but we don't always hear them. They can be creative about it, too.

I hope this hasn't upset you; I only want to help you, and to offer something that will bring you some comfort, knowing that your dad is still with you.
