Thank you! I've been chewing on this one for a while...could really piss off a bunch of people...although I'm sure there will be some who agree with me. The short version is that although I do respect everyone's right to feel how they feel, I think we have gone so overboard on people being super sensitive about their personal choices or situations to the point where it has become discriminatory to everyone else who is now afraid to speak.

I'm afraid to open my mouth (or write certain things) for fear of inadvertently offending someone. I can't keep up with the countless segments of the population that I'm now supposed to be aware of and considering with every word I write or speak. I'm afraid to even write "he or she" anymore because I'll piss off anyone who uses "they."

I'm being silenced by these various groups that are popping up faster than I can even learn about them. Talk about intolerance...jeez, Louise heaven forbid we should leave out one group or another when carefully considering how to compose what should be a simple sentence.

Perhaps people in those groups could be a little more tolerant and not expect the entire world to change for them because they sure as hell aren't trying to change for the rest of us. They're cramming this stuff down our throats so we are afraid to speak.

How fair is that?

I was doing readings on YouTube a few years ago and I started every one with a dumb joke. One day, I said, "What did the Mexican firefighter call his children? José and hose B."

A woman wrote a long nasty comment accusing me of racism and saying my president must love me (she assumed I was American). She tore my head off with insults and accusations - it was unbelievable.

I responded by saying I'm Canadian and British and that I am NOT racist and I wasn't making fun of Mexicans, it was a play on a Spanish word, and nothing more. I elaborated carefully and respectfully. She replied with another barrage of insults.

You can't tell a joke anymore that starts with "A rabbi, a priest and a minister..." or "An Irishman, a Frenchman and an American" (or whatever). Heaven forbid you should tell an ethnic joke - even if it's your own ethnicity.

I am a (no-longer-practicing) Jew and am entitled to tell Jewish jokes, but I don't dare do it because even non-Jews might take offence.

It's just got to be quite ridiculous, I think. No one can laugh at themselves anymore. And I'm so fed up with the word "inclusivity" I could scream. There's so much "inclusivity" now, it's actually causing a lot of exclusivity.

Well, so much for the short version. I guess you just got a whole rant! :)
