Thanks for an interesting read. Shocking about parents refusing to allow their boys to play with dolls etc.!!

I’m all for kids playing with “boy” or “girl” toys as they choose, but I have to say, back in the Dark Ages when I was having babies, I wanted pink or blue, or other “girl” or “boy” patterns for my babies. It was just fun, delighting in “I have a new little boy/girl!”

Also, it can be hard to tell if they’re boys or girls in those early months. Especially the near-bald ones! More reason in my head to “show off” look, I have a boy/girl!!

Certainly, there’s nothing wrong with neutral colours for babies or gifts of sleepers before we know the gender. But i always loved to receive a frilly little dress or other more typical cute outfits for baby boys or girls.

Did my little girls wear jeans and T shirts? Yep! And when one of my sons wanted to wear his sister’s costume dresses, I had no problem. Kids should get to express themselves as they need and want.

Great article!
