Thanks so much for this. I have no problem writing 10K words a day and spitting out a first draft of a novel in a week to ten days, usually requiring little editing. But I don't do hefty outlines (barely any outlining - I'm more of a pantser!). I've tried but don't seem to know how to get there. When I write, it's like I'm watching a film and I write what I see. I don't really see the words on the screen. When I'm writing a scene that's at night (for example) and finally take a break and look up, if it's daytime I am startled. I'm disoriented for a few moments; I expected to see the scene in the story.
I loved what you wrote about a schedule though. I'm trying to get there. Been undisciplined and living a "keep my own hours" life for so long, it is difficult to change that habit to something with more structure. Exceptionally poor sleep and insomnia don't help. All the best plans for a productive day are shot when I can't sleep till 8 am despite my best efforts!
Thanks for an inspiring read. I'm going to try harder to do the things you suggest.
