Even though I'm a snake lover and miss having them as pets, I would freeze, too, seeing one in the wild unless I was certain it was non-venomous. Funny, but of nearly 4,000 species of snakes, only 600 are venomous, and about 200 can kill humans. Yet we think most are venomous.

And most snakes would prefer to get as far away from humans as possible. But there's that rare time we might step on one or startle it and ... uh-oh.

The thing is ... although most of them are safe, who wants to run into one of the 5% that can be lethal??!

I'd have run in Kenya, too!
