These things have been on my mind, too. I’m a handful of years behind you but close enough to relate to a lot of what you said.
I’m praying I can stay healthy enough to keep my independence. I love my home, it’s in a great location, it’s spacious, plenty of storage, wood-burning fireplace, 2 bed, 2 bath, very cool floor plan.
I’ve checked out seniors places. They’re half the square footage of my home, or less!! And no fireplaces. Even the high end ones are that small, and stupidly expensive.
I decided that because I can’t begin to predict what will happen down the road, I’m just going to keep doing all I can to stay well, and keep throwing out gratitude for being healthy and strong and loving the home I’m in, and trusting the universe will give me all I need.
Counting on continuing to attract that.
No point throwing fear into the situation. I don’t want to attract the thing I fear and there are too many variables between now and 80+.
I would love to find a situation like the Golden Girls or a large home with independent living, each resident with own room and but staff to take care of cleaning, meals, and shopping etc.
I had a friend who ran a business like that. She loved seniors and bought a huge house with 10 bedrooms, had it all decked out with stair lifts and accessible everything. Residents loved her and the staff. Was like living in a home, with people who became family.
Maybe you’ll find something like that when the time comes. I’m sure you’ll find a suitable solution because you’re paying attention to possibilities. 💜
