Paula, your story had me in tears - and THEN I read the "backstory" for it. Your writing is always brilliant and deeply descriptive and emotional, but holy smoke, I can sure see why this was especially heart-wrenching.

And ... I miss my dad's voice, too, although I still hear it clearly in my head 21 years after he slipped back to the spirit realm. I miss his dumb jokes and his hugs and having him say "it's okay" when things were bumpy.

So I am having a tearful moment here, respecting your loss and your grief, and letting you know you're not alone 💜
