What a beautiful story of love and commitment. You did you best - even when you thought you weren't. You can only do so much when you're tied to children and work etc. Your dad knew he was loved, he knew you would be there if there was a serious need.

I think you're doing a lot more than bringing "a little cheer" to your father, and just doing "alright." You're doing great - and he knows he is loved.
