Wow. I don't even know how someone would be able to do that! How did they change your email address when the notifications of such a request would have come to your address, as you've discovered on the other side of this?!?!
What a nightmare. I'm sorry this happened to you; I would feel so violated if it happened to me!
I want to mention in reply to you saying Facebook isn't real...I've had some very close friendships and strong connections because of Facebook, which still surprises me. And at some points in my life, it was the one thing that kept me going when I was living in isolation and struggling with loss. So to me, the idea of losing my account and the messages with those people, the photos, all that history - it would be a terrible thing!
And on the other hand...when I think of what you said about losing friends because of this, perhaps this was the Universe "house-cleaning" and helping you move forward without certain people who don't need to be in the next part of your journey.
