Wow, Nicole, this is so fascinating! I'd heard of it and had a general understanding of this but had no idea there were so many types. When I first heard of it, the general description sounded like it might apply to me but I never looked it up. On reading your article, I was shocked to see that I have/do a few of the types you mentioned - seeing colours around people to pick up their moods, fingers "typing" while listening to talking (movies, TV, in person), and getting a sense of feelings, smells, colours or sensations with certain words or numbers. And mirror-touch - oh, my - this has been SO DIFFICULT in my life. i am massively sensitive to what others are feeling - and also to noise, stimuli of various kinds etc in general. Also touch-emotion although not as frequent as the others.
Does this mean I am a synesthete?? Thanks for a fantastic article!
