I can imagine how it is for you to be in noisy environments after the silence of your forest. Although probably not to the same degree, my life in my cottage in England was extremely quiet. Occasionally I heard horses clip-clopping down the lane past the cottage (such a beautiful sound; I miss it so much) - but there was rarely a car or any other noise to break the beautiful silence.

I'm finding it hard to adjust to city life. Understated.
