Yes! It really is! And I couldn't help but think of one of the three giant hard-cover Oz books I got when I was about 6 years old. One of them was "The Land of Oz" and had a character in it, "Jack Pumpkinhead." A mischievous boy had made this pumpkin head and stuck it on a stick body and put clothes on it, intending to scare the old witch with whom he had been forced to live. But instead, she tried out a new "Magic Powders of Life" on the pumpkinhead, and presto, he was real.

The boy, "Tip," took some bread and cheese and ran away early the next morning with Jack before old Mombi woke up. Off they went on an adventure that was the rest of the book.

Tip also stole the Magic Powders of Life and ended up using them along the way for more fun creatures!
