Yup. I second all of that. However, there are times when a longer piece is essential to good storytelling or information-sharing.
I don’t mind reading longer pieces if they’re well written and if every word is relevant, useful and essential.
Thanks for highlighting some of the reasons I’m not reading either. And I’d add two. Click bait titles that don’t deliver. And stories about Medium, griping about it (don’t like it? Shut up and leave) or others that are designed to get reads for the writer but don’t offer value, such as how to make your article go viral etc. Duh. Write great content.
