Grave Secrets: Paranormal Romance Novella (Chapter 7 of 7)
Ghostly forces close in and a final reckoning alters destiny
It seemed as though the moment Robert and Cindy set out in her car, they were destined to be late. Stop lights, traffic jams, construction, elderly pedestrians. You name it, they got it.
Finally getting out of Albany, Cindy said, “Good! No more of that to worry about! Just open country road!”
Famous last words. Almost immediately, they found themselves behind an old tractor that puttered along so slowly that if it had gone any slower, it would have been going backwards. With so many trees lining the road, and plenty of curves and slight hills, it was impossible to see far enough past the tractor to safely pass.
A few painfully slow miles later, finally the farmer turned down a side road and Cindy stepped hard on the accelerator. Robert checked his watch about 10 times a minute, making Cindy even more nervous.
“That’s not going to get us there any faster,” she teased.
“Hm? Oh, I know. Just nervous. Sorry. How much farther is it?”
